~just food insecure things~
- tired enough to maybe be dying; too tired to care
- that thing where your vision suddenly comes back as you're binging
- toothpaste is food, right? fingernails are food, right?
- someone hands you a banana and you just. start crying.
- impulse buying a premade meal, eating it on the spot, and getting to come to your senses still holding the change
- food: literally rotten. you, somehow:
tÆ sTÿ - the constant awareness that if you don't get enough calories you die
- staring into space like a machine on standby in between essential tasks
- your emotions and your brain are having a race and you're losing
- whoops, guess you can't read now

More serious hypothesis: In trials, this would work on maybe 30% of working class and below people with depression, and have a much smaller but still present effect on subjects who were middle class and above. This nuance would be quickly erased and food would be trotted out as a miracle cure for depression. Popular magazines would start telling readers with depression to eat more food, more often. Actual problems involving insufficient or inconsistent food access would not be addressed at that level, although many individual therapists and social workers would catch on.
(It's also possible this study has been done. I can't be the only one to notice the parallels here.)
For some reason the US conception of "encouraging a healthy diet in the population" has to do with telling people what not to eat, instead of helping people get plenty of good nutritious food. Fuck that noise. Calories are good for you! Food is good for you! Go forth and eat!
